The Swiss automotive trade association sets out for garages the processes of the workshop job, warranty handling and hour billing; software for the industry is measured by whether it reproduces that document chain.
Definition
The difference from generic job management lies in two data objects: the vehicle record with plate, chassis number, mileage and history, and the warranty case, which is billed to the manufacturer rather than the customer.
Hour billing follows work units rather than measured time: what is billed is what the manufacturer’s catalogue allows for a job. Software that only knows actual hours calculates systematically wrongly in this industry.
