In healthcare, billing to health insurers runs through a trust center or a billing agency; without that connection every invoice to an insurer stays manual work.
Definition
Trust centers are bodies backed by physicians’ organisations which collect, check and forward billing data — and supply doctors with statistics on their own billing. Billing agencies additionally take over collection.
For the practice the connection is a selection criterion with a price consequence: it costs per invoice or as a module, and without it electronic billing is not possible. The question is therefore not whether, but at what cost.
What the software must be able to do
Clarify which trust centers and billing agencies are connected, whether the connection is included in the price, and how rejections come back into the practice software. The return path is the part that is missing more often than the sending.
