Hospitality collective agreement

Hotels fall under the same national hospitality collective agreement: working time, premiums, minimum wages and rest periods are set there, and both rostering and payroll have to know it.

Definition

The difference from a restaurant lies in shift work: night duty at reception, split shifts in housekeeping, seasonal peaks. Rest periods and premiums thereby become a daily calculation rather than an exception.

In seasonal businesses fixed-term contracts are added: joiners and leavers pile up, and with them the pro-rata entitlements to holidays and thirteenth month’s pay. Calculating that by hand means calculating it twenty times for twenty seasonal staff.

Check: shift rostering with rest-period validation, premiums by time of day, pro-rata entitlements on fixed-term contracts — and a report that reflects the agreement and not just the Labour Act.
