Delivery note
The delivery note documents which goods or services were delivered, when and to whom; it contains quantities and descriptions but usually no prices, and serves as evidence of performance.
Definition
Its job is proof: whoever disputes having received the delivery is confronted with the countersigned note. It is therefore the acknowledgement of receipt that gives the document its value — not the listing.
In the warehouse it is at the same time the trigger for the stock entry. Where delivery note and invoice run separately, the collective invoice arises: several deliveries, one invoice at month end.
What the software must be able to do
Check whether delivery notes can be printed without prices, whether they update stock levels, and whether several can be combined into one collective invoice. For returns the reverse path is needed.
